I find the most useful and interesting information is the Kalkan news.  I was particulary interested in the road improvement info.

The Looney DookIt's that time of year again.  A bunch of crazy people will once again be freezing their bits off, swimming in Kalkan Bay, on New Year's Day.

The Looney Dook, organised by Robert Ferguson, has become a regular fixture in the Kalkan calendar, and it usually attracts lots of participants, and supporters.

The fun kicks off at 12 noon, at the town beach, in front of the Kleo Bar.

The dress code for swimmers is swimwear or fancy dress (preferred) - a very special prize will be awarded to the best fancy dress (chosen by a panel of Kalkan celebs).

Robert & Marion will again provide a wee dram (or soft drink) for the survivors - only one per survivor - last year some people went into the water several times and tried to claim a dram for each occasion!

If you simply want to watch, you need warm clothing and a steaming latte from Kleo or Fener Bar.

Either way, please bring some money with you, because the organiser would like you to part company with a little of it. There is a 'swim fee' donation of 10 TL per swimmer.

Non-swimmers will be invited to participate in a raffle, or otherwise, to make a small donation.  All proceeds will go to helping special causes in Kalkan with the emphasis on children.  Sadık Öğretir has offered to provide information on how best to use the proceeds, however if you know of any special cases please let Robert know, and he will see what he can do.

Last time, a sum of 1,125TL was donated by participants and onlookers, so let's see if we can do as well this time round.  To read about the last Looney Dook, and check out the fancy dress costumes, click here to see KTLN's report

Should you wish to donate a prize for the raffle please either bring this along on the day or if you are unable to attend please give your prize to someone who will be attending.  Alternatively you can contact Robert 'Looney Dook' Ferguson, by clicking on this link: Contact Robert

Robert told KTLN, "This wee event has provided some much needed 'sobering up' for some, and contributed to a very congenial afternoon, as well as raising a considerable sum for good causes, since its inception.  Spread the word, come along, have a wee dook, buy some raffle tickets or put some money in the bucket - enjoy yourselves".

Robert would like to thank all those who have helped in the past with their contributions, and items for the raffle.  John Paton's Captain Morgan's Rum is always the star!
