We appreciate this might not be big news back in the UK, where about 75% of KTLN readers are right now, but it is quite literally freezing in Kalkan this morning.

Katie-Ellen, the KTLN guard dog, didn't know what to make of the frozen puddles of water on the road, as she went for her early morning walk. 

It's the first time she has witnessed this icy phenomenon.  She couldn't wait to get home, and back to her warm bed.

We have been trying to think of the last time we had temperatures so cold in Kalkan, and we think it was probably back in February 2008.

The KTLN weather report shows below zero 'real feel' temperatures (-4c), in the early hours of this morning, and similar temperatures are forecast overnight tonight.

It may be sunny today, but it's pretty cold.  Wrap up warm!

By the way, the top image is from the KTLN photo library - it was taken in Sütlüğen, not Kalkan.  We didn't feel like getting the camera and going back to snap an icy puddle in the road!
