Dental hygiene is something that we probably take for granted in western Europe, but the same level of awareness does not appear to be there in Turkey.

The Kalkan Restaurant Association (who clearly would prefer their clients to have a healthy set of teeth), recently organised a Dental Health Awareness Week, at the Kalkan First School. 

With guidance provided by dentists Reha Şayrac and Cenk Şahin they emphasised the importance of brushing regularly to all students aged 7 – 12.  They also generously supplied a toothbrush and toothpaste to all 565 pupils.

On their visit to the school on 1st June, he thanked headmaster Galip Karalan and his teachers for welcoming them and supporting the intiiative.  Special thanks were also given to the dentists Reha Şayrac and Cenk Şahin for finding time from their busy schedules to spread this important message.  Finally he thanked Members Gökçe Gıda and PNG Ltd for their support.

The Association aims to do more of this type of community activity in future.  We have more interesting news to bring you about their work in forthcoming reports.
