Kalkan BelediyeHere are a few Belediye related items that we would like to update you on.

In this article we tell you about new restricted vehicle access by the harbour, the Çay Bahçe (tea garden) by Kalkan beach, and an invitation to bid for some Belediye owned business units.

Restricted vehicle access by the harbour
The Belediye has installed a low level metal barrier by Jasmine Garden restaurant, which effectively means that the area in front of Kayra and Deniz restaurants, plus the route all the way to Kalkan Beach, is a pedestrian only zone.

Prior to this barrier being installed it was regularly used as a car parking area.  There are still alternative places to park by the harbour, including on the harbour itself, (close to Sandal restaurant).  You can also park on the road that takes you towards Caretta Caretta, and up the hill close to the Pirat Hotel.

Belediye tea garden (çay bahçe)
Even though the season is well underway, the tea garden behind Kalkan Beach remains closed.  The Belediye is still working to find a new manager.  A spokesman said it is now hoped that the cafe will reopen by the end of June.

Belediye business units
Kalkan Belediye has announced that it is inviting bids for 4 business/office units in the old Belediye building in town (the building where Deniz Bank used to be).  As the rent charged by the Belediye tends to be a little lower than that charged by private landlords, anyone who already rents from the Belediye may not bid for one of these units.  You must also have been a resident of Kalkan for at least 5 years.  Anyone who wants to bid should get in touch with the Belediye by 29th June.
