Doctors will always tell you that speed of response when treating a casualty is very important. First aid, correctly administered in the moments following an accident, or when someone falls ill, can make a big difference in terms of the recovery of the casualty. KTLN is pleased to announce that Dr Cem Tolunay and his wife Bircan Tolunay, who is a nurse, have agreed to provide a half day course in Kalkan on first aid, at the end of September 2009. If you would like to participate, please read on. Who? The course is free and open to everyone, with training provided in both Turkish and English. Where? The venue is still to be confirmed, but will be in Kalkan. When? Probably Saturday 26th September. This has also to be confirmed. The course should take no more than 3 hours and will be held in the morning. If there is significant demand an afternoon session will be provided. What? Training will include visual presentations and hands on learning. Practical experience will be given by practicing on each other and medical resuscitation dummies. How? To reserve your place on this course, click on the Contact Us tab at the top of this page, and type FIRST AID TRAINING in the subject line. Please tell us your name and give us a contact telephone number. It's as simple as that. When final details are known we will let you know. Why? Why should you bother? Because in an emergency you may be the best hope someone has of surviving. Because it could be your nearest and dearest that needs help. How would you feel if you couldn't provide that help? Because it could be the most worthwhile three hours of your life, if you have to put what you have learned into practice. And even if you have been on a first aid course in the past, it wouldn't harm to refresh your memory. Share |

Those of us who live in Kalkan, and even those who come over for just a few weeks at a time as visitors, rely on the skills of our local doctors and nurses to look after us when we are ill or have suffered an accident.
