KTLN beat the heat - no cook recipiesWith temperatures soaring in Kalkan, nobody wants to turn on the oven to cook a meal.  So this month, KTLN has come up with some great ‘no-cook’ meal ideas which will be published weekly.  Here is our second recipe.

All the ingredients are available in Kalkan.

And don't forget, KTLN members can see lots of fantastic Turkish recipies every day in our Knowledge Bank, in the Culture, History & Language section.  Click on the following link to check them out: Turkish Cuisine

Spiced chick peas with white cheese – serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 large can chick peas (haslanmis nohut)
  • 1 small size carton suzme yogurt (extra thick)
  • 1 small packet chilli flakes
  • 1 mild green pepper
  • 1 mild red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 peeled and cubed cucumbers
  • Small packet white Turkish cheese

Method
Drain the chick peas and place in a large bowl.

Chop the red and green peppers and add to the chick peas, stir in the cucumber. Mix ingredients well.  Add the chilli flakes to taste (half a teaspoon gives you a lightly spiced dish, two teaspoons will be quite spicy).

Stir in the suzme yogurt and lemon juice. Leave in the ‘fridge to chill for 15 minutes.

Roughly chop the white cheese and sprinkle over the top of the chick peas just before serving.

Serve with local bread

Afiyet Olsun  -  Enjoy your meal.
