I joined KTLN because the friends we have made by going to Kalkan for the past four years have not stopped talking about how good your website is, and how useful it has been to them while holidaying in Kalkan.

Wireless Internet signals in Kalkan PDF Print E-mail

WiFi signals in KalkanKTLN used to include WiFi hot spots in our interactive map of Kalkan, however free signals are so widely available now, that we have discontinued this section of our map.

Kalkan is now pretty much wireless enabled all over town.

The providers are mostly businesses that are happy for their customers to make use of their wireless connection, free of charge.  (You may feel obliged to buy something - a drink or two perhaps).  Typically they are secure networks, where the owner has to supply you with a password.

However, if you cannot avail yourselves of these facilities, there is now an alternative.  If you search for wireless signals in Kalkan town you may find FREE HOTSPOT, an unsecured network.

It transmits a far reaching signal from two locations - one is on top of the hill between Kalkan and Kalamar bays, and the other is at the end of Kalamar Road, not far from the Kaya/BBQ roundabout.  KTLN has not tried it, but we are told that the signal covers most of Kalkan town, and even out to sea, for those with a splash resistant laptop.

Now for the bad news.  Despite the name, it is not free.  Well not at the moment anyway.  Currently you have to pay roughly £2.50 per hour.  We understand you can pay through the login page when you connect to the network, or alternatively you can buy vouchers at the Bulut store, opposite the Pirat Hotel.

If they can manage to get some business sponsorship, who knows, perhaps one day it will be free.  But for now at least it is available as an option if you can't pop into a restaurant, cafe, bar or hotel with a free signal.

As an aside, isn't it an interesting sign of the times that many people now go on holiday with their palmtops and laptops.  One can only hope it is for pleasure and not work reasons.
