The Turkish economy - cause for optimism PDF Print E-mail

Turkish EconomySome good news for Turkey regarding the economic and financial outlook for 2010.

An article in Today Zaman this week quotes the Deputy Secretary General of the OECD, Aart de Geus, as saying “The latest indices suggest that the end of crisis is not far away for Turkey”.

Members of Kalkan Turkish Local News may have read some time ago in our Knowledge Bank, Finance section, that we said Turkish banks were better prepared to deal with the global financial crisis, because of the steps taken several years ago, when Turkey suffered its own economic crisis.  Changes made to the Turkish banking industry at that time have lessened the pain of the current crisis.

There is still some way to go, but this latest report gives cause for optimism, and provides some reassurance for those of us with money invested in the Turkish banking system.
