pedestrian crossingWe reported some time ago in Kalkan Turkish Local News that the Belediye had decided for safety reasons, that the end of the Thursday market should be moved further away from the main road (Şehitler Caddesi).

We can report that yesterday (Thursday), the new rules came into force - coinciding with the return to school of local children.  Zabita (local Belediye officers) were on hand to ensure that the road was kept clear.  There is no parking allowed now in this area, which you can see coned off in the photo below.

We would also like to draw your attention to a new pedestrian crossing that has been marked on the road, in the same location.

This is likely to be used by many schoolchildren who are coming from, or going to school.  So please take extra care if you are driving on this stretch of road.
