Most of us tend to think of Kalkan as our very own bit of Turkish Delight, far away rom the hustle and bustle of city life.  It's a quiet backwater for those seeking a relaxing time.

But in other parts of Turkey you can find evidence of a thriving industrial economy, which is going to place Turkey at the top table of leading global traders in the not so distant future.  Already, it has the fastest growing economy in Europe.

The UK government has a website dedicated to the promotion of international trade, and the page on Turkey makes fascinating reading.  Jessica Hand, the British Consul General in Turkey, who was recently interviewed by Kalkan Turkish Local News, is quoted as saying:

"Turkey is a high growth market, offering exceptional opportunities for UK companies"

"Doing business in Turkey can be hugely rewarding for those who are well-prepared. You will find keen competitiveness, a thirst for high quality and an insatiable appetite for trade."
