Kalkan harbourImportant Update: Next Thursday 29th October is Republic Day, and Kalkan will be celebrating the 86th anniversary of  the founding of the Republic of Turkey, with an evening of great food and entertainment.

Kalkan Belediye and the Kalkan Restaurants Association are joining forces to bring you a Republic Day Party, starting at 7pm at Kalkan Harbour

The format of the evening has changed since our original article was published.  And now it is completely free!

Why not come along with your friends, to what promises to be a wonderful evening.  Here are a few more details.

The Food
Traditional Turkish fayre will be on offer.  We understand it will be similar to the food served at the Belediye election celebration party, earlier this year.

The Entertainment
The Kalkan First School band will march through town, to the harbour, accompanied by a torchlight procession.  At the harbour, there will be traditional Turkish music and dancing.

The price
Originally, we were advised that tickets would be on sale.  However, given the importance of this day for Turkish people, the Belediye wants to make this party accessible to as many people as possible, hence they have decided that the food and entertainment will be free.  All that needs to be paid for is drinks.

This is a special day in the Turkish calendar and this will be a special evening for the people of Kalkan - Turkish and non-Turkish.  Why not come along and join in the party.
