KTLN is the first thing I Google when I open my computer in the morning. It is the best way to catch up with what is happening in Kalkan. How did I manage before it existed?

Kalkan storm a damp squib PDF Print E-mail

Kalkan Bay after the rainThe weather in Kalkan on Tuesday night and Wednesday failed to live up to the dire forecast.

It wasn't a pleasant day; there was plenty of rain, but it wasn't remotely close to some of the storms we have experienced in the past.

The colour of the sea in Kalkan Bay changed quite dramatically, with the rainwater run off - see our photo below.

Other places in Turkey, on the Aegean and south west Mediterranean coasts, have had a tough time though.

See this report from Hurriyet Daily News

Anyway, at least the children of Kalkan got an extra day off, as did schoolchildren throughout the region.  Schools were closed as a precautionary measure.

The weather today (Thursday) is supposed to be sunny, but more rain is on the way over the coming days.

Below: Kalkan Bay after the rain storm, with discoloured water from the rainwater run off.
