Road worksImportant Update:  This article has been updated to provide a summary of the petition wording, and there is also a link to allow you to add your name to the petition online, if you are not in Kalkan right now.

Today, Tuesday 10th November, local businessman Mustafa Yılmaz is collecting signatures for a petition that he intends to present to the Belediye, later in the week.

Following the recommencement of road works on Kaş Road, yet another access road to Kızıltaş has been cut off, leaving residents with very few options for getting into town.  See first photo below.

The petition, (which is obviously in Turkish), asks for urgent improvements to local roads, to make it easier for residents to get into town.  A translated summary of the petition is shown below:

The expansion work on the Fethiye-Kalkan-Kas highway, passing through Kalkan has been restarted.

Kızıltaş mevkii (area) at the top of this road is seriously affected by the construction work.

The people who live and work in Kızıltaş are not able to easily reach to their homes and workplaces due to road works.

All these buildings are placed in a registered area and if they are not able reach to their homes this is against their human rights.

The residents have a serious problem and it must be solved urgently by a new access to the area or to keep the existing accesses open.

If you live in the Kızıltaş area, on the mountain side of Kaş Road, and you wish to sign this petition, watch out for someone coming round today.

If you are not in Kalkan, but would like to show your support for this petition, you can do so by clicking on the following link and sending a message to KTLN.  We will pass it on.

Click on the link and to send a message with a subject heading of Kızıltaş road petition.  Your message should read "I/we support the road petition".  You should include your full name and your address in Kalkan.  Click here to send a message.
