I've been missing Kalkan since my visit 3 years ago, and thanks to the people behind this amazing website, I feel like I'm there once again!

Çaliş Boxing Day sponsored splash - 26th December PDF Print E-mail

Boxing Day SplashIf you fancy a day trip after your Christmas Day turkey and sprouts, the Çalış Carnival Committee would like to invite you to join them for their annual sponsored “Big Splash” in the sea at Çalış on Boxing Day.  If you want to burn off a few Christmas calories you can even take part.

The Committee hope that the brave "splashers" will seek sponsorship and wear fancy dress for the event - the wackier the better! (although this is optional it makes great fun for the spectators!).

Last years “Splash” was an enormous success - there were clowns, super heroes, fairies, a nun and even a Christmas tree complete with tinsel and baubles racing into the sea and a lot of  money was raised for the carnival charity, helping local disadvantaged children.

It is hoped that there will be  even more “splashers” this year so now is the time to start thinking of your costumes. There will be a prize for the best costume.

This years event will take place on the beach opposite Serkul 1 Restaurant. Assembly will be from 12.00 noon and the Big Splash will take place at 1.00.

Afterwards there will be free, hot, sweet and sour soup for the brave splashers (courtesy of Serkul 1) as well as mulled wine (sorry but spectators will have to pay for theirs - all money going to the carnival charity).  The Serkul will also be serving their popular Sok menu if anyone is hungry.

Sponsorship forms are available from the Carnival Committee on 0535 8554919 or 0536 3739520.

Incidentally, something similar will be happening in Kalkan on New Year's Day.  More on that soon.
