Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

It's been a while since the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey came to Kalkan but this year they are back.  Tomorrow, Wednesday 11th October to be precise.

They are expected to pass through Kalkan (on the D400) between 14.15 and 14.30 to be even more precise.

This six day race begins today with Stage 1 between Alanya and Kemer.  Tomorrow Stage 2 begins in Kumluca at 11.30 and is expected to end in Fethiye between 16.30 and 17.00.

The last time they passed through Kalkan they were cycling in the other direction - this time they will be approaching along the D400 from Kaş passing through the traffic light junction and heading off up the hill towards Yeşilköy and beyond to Fethiye.

The anticipated timings from Kaş to Kınık are shown in the table below.

Below: Anticipated arrival times between Kaş and Kınık.  The three columns show arrival times based on a slow pace (left), medium pace (centre) and fast pace (right).

Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey - times

The riders themselves will be preceded by a phalanx of motorbikes and speeding cars, and then followed by support vehicles, and a few police cars and ambulances.  You will probably also see helicopters passing overhead as the race is televised.  (We believe TV coverage is available on TRT 3 Spor and Eurosport 1).

It will be quite a sight if you fancy standing by the roadside and cheering them on.

Delays on the roads
If you were thinking of going to Kaş or Fethiye or perhaps nearby Kaputaş or Patara beaches tomorrow you may wish to bear in mind that the roads will be closed for a period of time to allow the cyclists and their entourage to pass through unhindered.  Also worth bearing in mind if you are heading towards Dalaman airport to catch a flight.
