With temperatures hovering around 20c, it has been t-shirt weather. It's been one of those crystal clear days when the horizon appears as a crisp, clear line in the distance. As we say farewell to 2009, we thought it would be nice to bring you some scenes from around Kalkan, on the last day of the year. Below: Our first picture should come as good news to animal lovers. Remember Aslan, the street dog who had hot oil poured on his head. Well, we saw him down by the harbour today, and he looked good. Here he is devouring a chew.
Below: The view down a quiet Şehitler Caddesi, with Kaş Road in the background.
Below: The view down Hasan Altan Caddesi.
Below:A quiet Atatürk Caddesi.
Below: Kalkan Beach.
Below: Kalkan Bay
Below: A boat in Kalkan harbour
Below: Boats resting on the harbour-side.
Below: Throughout the day, many restaurants have been preparing for the celebrations taking place tonight. Judging from the size of some of the speakers stacked up by the harbour, you may well be able to hear the music tonight up in Islamlar.
Below: The last Thursday market of 2009.
Below: Freshly cooked bread in the market.
Below: The luckiest bird in town. Hindi Houdini - the one that got away.
Below: And finally, another fabulous Kalkan sunset. This local news article is dedicated to absent friends - those who can't be with us in Kalkan to share the New Year's Eve celebrations. In particular, our thoughts are with a special friend who is unexpectedly away from Kalkan, in a hospital in Izmir. If you are reading this, we wish you a speedy recovery. Your friends look forward to seeing you back home soon. Love from the whole KTLN team, including Katie-Ellen. Share |
