NYD Swim

The sad news is that there is no Loony Dook being organised in Kalkan this year.  But the good news is that a number of people still wish to go ahead and swim on New Year's Day and that is exactly what they will be doing at around 13.00.

The swimmers will plunge in at the same location as the Loony Dook, just off Kalkan town beach.  If you wish to go along for a swim or if you just want to watch the swimmers why not go along from 12 noon onwards.

And there is another reason to be there.  Some of the swimmers are keen to use this opportunity to have an informal gathering where friends can meet to remember Sally George, a British expat who sadly passed away recently.  As we move forward into a new year it's an opportunity to take a few moments to remember Sally and others who are no longer with us.

A number of local restaurants and cafes will be open to provide refreshments.  Let's hope we get some decent weather.  The forecast at the moment looks good.

Below:  A photo from the Loony Dook on 1st January 2017.  Will it return for 1st January 2019?
