Unwelcome news for anyone considering applying for residency in Turkey. Fees are up by an astonishing 50%, compared to last year. See our table below. We tried to find out why, and were told by the British Embassy that the explanation they had received was that these fees reflect the rates paid by Turkish citizens seeking residency in the UK. Another strange development is that the new fees are quoted in pounds sterling, for British citizens, but you still have to pay in Turkish lira. Here is a table showing 2009 and 2010 fees for British citizens. We have used an exchange rate of 2.4 in our calculations. You can find the original 2010 table, in Turkish, on the following website (towards the bottom): www.antalya.pol.tr
The cost of the ikamet book has also increased to 138TL. The 2010 fees equate to around £100 per quarter. A three month visitor's visa is currently priced at £10. Kalkan Turkish Local News members can find out exactly how to go about obtaining residency, by reading our Knowledge Bank article. Click here to read it now.Share |
