D400 Kalkan bypass update - February 2010 PDF Print E-mail

D400 road constructionWork continues on the Kalkan bypass - the D400 dual carriageway.

We have a few more photos for you, and also an update on what the Kalkan Belediye has finally agreed with the national highways department.

You may recall that central plans and local plans did not agree, so the Belediye put forward a new plan for agreement, which included additional road junctions, and a pedestrian footbridge close to the bus station.

Happily, these plans have been accepted, and construction work is proceeding in accordance with the revised details.  This is good news for Kalkan.

To remind yourself of the details, click here for our December local news story.

Much of the work is currently taking place between the bus station entrance/exit and the Luka restaurant junction.  So that's close to the Jandarma, Kelebek hotel, and the Begonvil development.  There is also some work taking place between the Luka restaurant junction and Kışla.

We looked at the revised plans, and can confirm that the proposed new access point to Kışla will be located approximately 40 metres closer to Kalkan - moving it away from the dangerous bend. Again, good news.

We have also been advised that the additional road to Kızıltaş, running beside the Arçelik shop, coming out close to the traffic lights, will receive some priority in terms of the scheduling of local road works.

With the recent inclement weather, the whole area close to the road works is quite messy.  Care needs to be taken as there is mud on the roads, as well as large numbers of lorries and heavy machinery.
