The site is easy to navigate, has a wealth of information, and is everything I like to see in a website.  Any questions I could have asked, already had clear answers on KTLN.  The webcams were an added bonus.

Kalkan Turkish Local News webcamWe would like to update you on the Kalkan Turkish Local News webcams.

We currently have three cameras, and a fourth one due to come online before the season starts.

The original webcam is the Kalkan Bay webcam.  This appears as a thumbnail on the top right of the KTLN home page, and you may also see the image from this webcam appearing on many other Kalkan websites.

The second webcam we set up, is located at the office of Mavi Bilgisayar in Kalkan town.

The third webcam provides a great view of Kalamar Bay, and is located at Kalamar Dream villa.

The fourth webcam will be coming soon, and will provide you with another great view - this time in the town centre, looking down the main street, Hasan Altan Caddesi.

Webcam outages
From time to time, we do get outages.  This is usually due to extreme weather conditions, which can disrupt the electricity supply or telecoms lines.  When this happens we do try to restore the image as soon as we can.  But if we are busy, or out of town, this can take a little longer.

Recently, some of you may have noticed that the webcam images were partly greyed out - sometimes a block of grey would appear on the lower part of the image.  It was really annoying, so we have fixed it.

If you want the technical explanation, (free of jargon), this paragraph is for you.  KTLN has become so popular that we had to move from our old server to a new and faster server, that is able to cope with the demands you are placing upon it.  The new server is so flippin fast, that when we uploaded an image from the webcam, it just couldn't wait long enough for the whole image to be received, before it started sending the output to your web page.  So we have had to tell the server to calm down a bit and wait for the whole picture to arrive, before publishing it on your screen.

[The KTLN webmaster will cringe at that non-technical explanation].

Can I get the webcam on my own website?
Yes, you can.  If you would like the main Kalkan Bay webcam image on your own website, it's easy.  Just click on this link: Get the KTLN webcam.

The other webcam images are not available for sharing with other websites.  Sorry.
