Conditions yesterday deteriorated as the day went on, with some pretty strong gusts in the afternoon, evening, and late into the night. Workmen carrying out improvements around town were forced to take shelter during the most severe gusts. The sea was extremely choppy, with white horses, and waves crashing on to the shore in Kalkan and Kalamar Bays. You get a feel for how choppy the sea is from our Kalamar Bay webcam. Preparations for the Thursday market were severely hampered last night by the strong winds, and there are unlikely to be any awnings in place today. Overnight, wind speeds were up to 35mph, with occasional gusts in excess of that, plus brief periods of rain. |
