I've been missing Kalkan since my visit 3 years ago, and thanks to the people behind this amazing website, I feel like I'm there once again!

Wind and rain batters Kalkan PDF Print E-mail

Windy harbourKalkan is currently being subjected to a battering by the weather.

Conditions yesterday deteriorated as the day went on, with some pretty strong gusts in the afternoon, evening, and late into the night.

In the afternoon, down by the harbour, people were tying things down as best they could.  Not many customers were braving the weather, for the few establishments left open.

Workmen carrying out improvements around town were forced to take shelter during the most severe gusts.

The sea was extremely choppy, with white horses, and waves crashing on to the shore in Kalkan and Kalamar Bays.  You get a feel for how choppy the sea is from our Kalamar Bay webcam.

Preparations for the Thursday market were severely hampered last night by the strong winds, and there are unlikely to be any awnings in place today.

Overnight, wind speeds were up to 35mph, with occasional gusts in excess of that, plus brief periods of rain.

The forecast for today (Thursday), is for more wind and rain, with some gusts up to 40mph in the morning, but with winds calming down in the late afternoon.

Not great for those of us who have to walk the dog!  At least the temperature is holding up -currently 15c (Thursday morning).
