The most powerful thing about the site is the combination of such useful, informative and educative information about Kalkan (and Turkey) in one web site.  Kalkan News is the first thing I read on KTLN.

Water billsKalkan Turkish Local News has learned from reliable sources, that Kalkan Belediye is about to take action against a number of property owners, in relation to unpaid water bills.

The scale of the problem is significant.  Over 200 property owners have not paid their water bills for over 2 years.

The amount overdue and owing is in excess of 450,000TL - that's the best part of £200,000.

But things are about to change.  For these extreme cases of non-payment, the water supply will be cut off before May 2010.  Some customers are Turkish, some are foreigners.  Some are businesses, and some are private dwellings.

So if you have not paid your water bills, you need to get your account up to date.  If you are one of the 200+ that have not paid anything for over 2 years, you will be cut off, unless you clear what you owe.

If you have an agent or friend who pays your bills, and you have any concerns at all, our advice is to ask to see receipts that your water bill has been paid.  The Belediye issues a receipt for all payments made, so it is the Belediye receipt you should see, if you want definitive proof.
