Morel mushroomsIf you fancy something a little bit different over Easter, why not try the Morel Fest, in Yeşilüzümlü, near Fethiye.

This is a festival that celebrates the magnificent morel mushroom, which can be found in abundance in that part of the world.

In fact the whole 3 days (Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th April), are devoted to talks about mushrooms, and 'mushroom forays' - getting out and about, and gathering them.

If you want to find out more, visit their website, which is packed with information, including a great guide to mushrooms in Turkey - which ones are safe to eat, and which ones are poisonous.  Click on the following link: Morel Fest website

This may appear to be a 'niche recreational activity', but it looks like a lot of fun, and it is a great way of getting back to nature and exploring some beautiful countryside.

[Editor: Please note we have deliberately avoided the only half funny mushroom joke in existence, which you are no doubt saying to yourself right now.  If you are logged in as a member, feel free to come up with something original in the KTLN Feedback box.]
