D400 roadworksThe roadworks on the D400 are in full swing at the moment.

There are a significant number of heavy machines and large vehicles operating in the area.

Feedback from a local resident, and our own observations, have prompted us to publish this article, reminding road users, and pedestrians, to take great care when in the vicinity of the roadworks.

In the Kızıltaş area, the temporary roads that meet the D400 are a combination of compressed soil and rocks.

There are two temporary access points in Kızıltaş - one not far from the Samira Deluxe, and the other close to the Begonvil development.  Both are usable with care.

On Saturday morning we saw a van that had become stranded, after a back wheel went down a particularly large hole, close to one of the new stone walls.

On the stretch of road between Kalkan and Kışla, there was a close shave the other day, when a lorry narrowly avoided a pedestrian.

It would seem that the lorry driver had not spotted the pedestrian, who was walking along, oblivious of the approaching lorry behind her.  We assume she could not hear it approaching, due to a combination of the noise of nearby machinery, and the fact that she was listening to her iPod.  Fortunately, the lorry just stopped in time.

A few minutes later another similar near miss occured, this time involving a couple of holidaymakers.

Walking along this section of road is hazardous at the moment, as there is less room to move out of the way of traffic, due to various building supplies along the road side.  Please take care.
