I joined KTLN because the friends we have made by going to Kalkan for the past four years have not stopped talking about how good your website is, and how useful it has been to them while holidaying in Kalkan.

KAPSA kermesThe Kalkan Association for the Protection of Street Animals (KAPSA), held one of their regular fundraising events earlier today, Saturday 3rd April 2010.

This type of event is known as a kermes, in Turkey.

Once again KAPSA dropped lucky with the weather, as the sun shone down on the assembled crowd at Kleo Bar, by the harbour.

There was the usual raffle and tombola, plus assorted quality second hand goods on offer, including books, DVDs and clothing.

Sadık Öğretir played the accordian, as school children sang traditional Turkish songs.

The mobile gözleme van was there again, from the Sofra restaurant in Kaş, donating their profits to KAPSA.

The last kermes was in November 2009, when a sum of 5,510TL was raised.  Today, KAPSA improved on that, when they collected a total of 6,231.50 TL.  At an exchange rate of 2.3, that is just over £2,700.

You can read about the work of KAPSA on their website: www.kapsa.co.uk

They are also on Facebook.

Below, some photos from the day.
