Severe water cuts in some parts of Kalkan PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 17 April 2010
ShareWater cutsWater alert - updated 18th April: As a result of the D400 construction work, some of the pipes bringing water from Saklikent will have to be cut.

As a consequence, some parts of Kalkan are likely to be WILL BE without water from Saturday 17th to Friday 30th April.  That's 2 whole weeks.

The areas that will be affected are listed below.
  • Kışla
  • Kömürlük
  • Club Patara (but see below)
  • Ulugöl

We are making enquiries to see if any contingency plans are in place to provide assistance, such as water bowsers.

We will publish an update when we find out what help, if any, may be available.

Update Wednesday 14th April: We have spoken with the Belediye, and at the moment, there are no specific plans to provide any kind of assistance, so you need to make your own arrangements.

We spoke to Club Patara, and they told us that they do have reserve water tanks.  Whether these reserves are sufficient to last two weeks, we don't know.

Update Saturday 17th April: We hear, via Enjoy Kalkan, that Club Patara management have got contingency arrangements in place, which should ensure continuity of supply.

If you need to arrange an emergency delivery of water, the Kalkan Turkish Local News, Business Directory (Services), has two contractors who can deliver a water tanker of up to 3 tonnes.  We understand that the current price is in the region of 60TL.

To go straight to the contact details for these two contractors, click here Or you can search the website, for the word bowser.

Update Sunday 18th April: It would appear that some other parts of Kalkan are suffering water cuts at the moment.  As far as we know, this is just a 'normal' outage, and water should be back on soon.

However, turning to the problems on the far side of Kalkan Bay, we have some disappointing news.  We have heard from two separate sources, both of them reliable, that two weeks is the minimum time that water will be cut off.

As our sources are well placed, we treat this information as more than pure speculation, so we are reporting it on KTLN.

But beyond this, it is currently impossible to say exactly when the supply will be working again.
