The main reason [for joining] is that since I have been in Kalkan (14 years), I have for the first time good information about what is happening in Kalkan.

The boats are back in the water! Kalkan Turkish Local News turned up to watch. Admittedly, we were a bit late, as we had to go to Kaş for the foreigners meeting with the Governor of Kaş district. However, we still managed to grab some photos before the sun went down. (Plus one the following morning). This is a significant time for the Kalkan boatmen. All winter they have been painstakingly repairing, refurbishing and cleaning their vessels. Now it's time for last minute preparations, with the boats on the water, before Kalkan starts to see large numbers of visitors arriving. Below: We watch the vessel Nihan being hoisted back into the harbour.
Below: The Yıldız 1 getting the same treatment.
Below: Some last minute welding.
Below: A romantic harbour scene.
Below: The following morning saw the last of the boats back in the sea.
