I joined KTLN because the friends we have made by going to Kalkan for the past four years have not stopped talking about how good your website is, and how useful it has been to them while holidaying in Kalkan.

Share As we mentioned yesterday, travel blogs on KTLN are like buses - you wait ages for one, then three come along at the same time. The first one on was the KTLN drive from Kalkan to the UK in January 2010. Then in April, we featured The Other Side of the Map - a journey round the eastern side of Turkey. So what can possibly top that? Read on. How about a sailing adventure, from The Netherlands to Kalkan. This is exactly what two KTLN members are about to do. And you can read all about it here, on Kalkan Turkish Local News. Andrew Miller and Barry (Buster) Varney, are two British ex-pats, living in Kalkan. They have just set off for Drimmelen in Holland to collect the sailing boat Contessa 33. They plan to sail her through the English Channel, across the Bay of Biscay, down the Portuguese coast then through the straits of Gibraltar and down the Algerian coast, then out into the Med, and home to Kalkan. Piece of cake! Below: The planned route.
Google maps copyright acknowledged. Andy & Barry have kindly offered to keep us posted as they make their incredible journey. We will bring you updates on an ad hoc basis, as we track their progress towards Kalkan. Below: A photo of the Contessa 33.
