D400Here is a quick update on the D400, water, electricity and ADSL (broadband) services in Kalkan.

D400 roadworks
Kalkan Turkish Local News has heard from a Belediye spokesman, that all noisy excavation work on the D400 highway, will stop this weekend.  Things should be quiet on Monday.

Other, less noisy work will continue, including laying the road surface.  It is planned to have an asphalt surface from the bus station (where the existing asphalt ends), to the Luka restaurant junction, by the end of June 2010.

So noise should be less of a problem, however it appears as though traffic is going to remain diverted through the town centre, for a little while longer.

waterWater supply
As far as water is concerned, the good news is that the Belediye managed to get the water flowing again to the Kışla, Kömürlük, Ulugöl areas, sooner than originally planned.  Residents have confirmed to KTLN that the water supply has resumed.

However, there have been more general water cuts, affecting many areas of Kalkan.  The Belediye tells us that this has been due to work being carried out on water pumps.  We are informed that supplies should be back to normal, some time on Friday 14th May.

ElectricityElectricity
Supplies were accidentally cut on Tuesday evening at around 7.30pm.  Most customers were reconnected within half an hour, however some parts of Kızıltaş were without power until just before 5pm on the following day.  Normal service has been resumed.

ADSL (Broadband internet)
Türk Telecom are laying fibre-optic cables in some parts of Kalkan.  This has been causing temporary broadband outages.
