The seat of the fire was just outside the workshop of Kalkan Soft Furnishing, owned by Mustafa and Aysel Sönmez. Furniture, fabric and foam were amongst the articles that caught fire, adjacent to the workshop wall. Fortunately, the owners, and their children were not hurt, however Aysel was visibly upset, and was being comforted by friends. Thanks to the prompt response of the firemen, the blaze was extinguished before it could spread to the rest of the building. They did a fantastic job in protecting the rest of the bus station. Several members of the Kalkan Belediye were at the scene, as well as the Chief of the Jandarma. Below: Smoke and flames rise high into the sky. Photo taken from Kızıltaş mountain side.

Below: A view from the other side. You can see the remains of the furniture, and steam coming off the wall.

Below: A photo of the interior of the workshop. You can see where smoke came through a vent in the wall. The wall was hot to touch.
