Bus station fireA serious fire broke out at the rear of the bus station complex, shortly after 10am this morning.

Dramatic pictures taken by Kalkan Turkish Local News show smoke and flames billowing into the sky.

Fortunately, the blaze was quickly contained by the local fire service, and nobody was injured.

The seat of the fire was just outside the workshop of Kalkan Soft Furnishing, owned by Mustafa and Aysel Sönmez.  Furniture, fabric and foam were amongst the articles that caught fire, adjacent to the workshop wall.

Fortunately, the owners, and their children were not hurt, however Aysel was visibly upset, and was being comforted by friends.

Thanks to the prompt response of the firemen, the blaze was extinguished before it could spread to the rest of the building.  They did a fantastic job in protecting the rest of the bus station.

Several members of the Kalkan Belediye were at the scene, as well as the Chief of the Jandarma.
