KTLN sheds light on the new wooden cabin at the harbour PDF Print E-mail

Jandarma PostAt the harbour, adjacent to the helpful sign telling you the speed limits on Turkish roads, is a new wooden cabin.

Some locals have been asking what exactly is it for?

No need to speculate any longer - Kalkan Turkish Local News has the answer.

It's not a kiosk for a man handing out car parking tickets.

Nor is it a shed for local fisherman to keep their tackle in.

Sadly, it's not even a tourist information kiosk.

Jandarma Post

It is in fact, a cabin for the local Jandarma.  We are informed that this post will be manned between the hours of 9pm and 3am, during the season.
They are there to keep order in and around the harbour area.

Makes you wonder - what exactly would they do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?  I have seen the inside of the Kalkan prison cell (purely in the course of journalistic research, you understand), and trust me, I can think of better places to spend the night.
