Updated Saturday 29th May: Kalkan Belediye has been talking to local banks about the possibility of paying your water bills automatically, through your Turkish bank account.

We can confirm that the Belediye and Yapı Kredi have now reached an agreement on this. 

We also understand that an agreement is not too far away with Deniz Bank.  See update below.

Update: Deniz Bank in Kalkan, has confirmed that it too has now reached agreement with the Belediye on water payments.   If you are a customer, shortly, you will be able to pay your bills in cash at the counter.  A little while later, you will be able to set up an automatic regular payment. 

Note - non customers can also pay by cash over the counter.  To quote from Hatice's email "We will be hugging all of Kalkan".  How nice is that.

Deniz Bank are making some system changes to deal with this new arrangement, and the new over the counter service will not be available until 7th June 2010.

This new service from the banks is free of charge.
