| Martin Evans - a tribute |

Share It is with sadness that we report the death of a much loved Kalkan figure, Martin Evans.Martin had been suffering from terminal cancer, and had returned to the UK several months ago, for treatment. He leaves a widow, Eileen, who is also back in the UK receiving treatment for a serious illness. His funeral is to be held in the UK, tomorrow, at 13.30 (UK time). At 15.00, (Kalkan time), many of his Kalkan friends are gathering in Kaya restaurant, to remember Martin, and celebrate his life. The Kaya was a regular spot for Martin and his wife Eileen. This photo was taken on a particularly sunny Christmas Day, back in 2006, when the Kaya decided for the first time, to put on a Christmas day meal. Martin was a private person. He was also a true gentleman - in both the literal sense - a gentle man, and also in terms of his behaviour towards others. When we were thinking about coming to live in Kalkan, Martin was kind enough to give us lots of good advice. Martin was devoted to his wife, Eileen, and as her health deteriorated over recent years, he provided unwavering support to her. They were pretty much inseparable. It is a pleasure to have known him, and we shall miss him. If you knew Martin, and would like to join his many friends in the Kaya at 15.00, tomorrow, Friday 4th June, please come along.Share |
