Istiklal Caddesi road worksNot too much to report this month.  Things have quietened down alot.

Starting in town, we can confirm that Iskele Sokak, the new link road, taking traffic from Kalamar Road, to the harbour, is now open.

The photos below show the finished road, and steps for pedestrians.

Below: The new road, as seen from the other side of town.

Work on the dual carriageway down into town from the traffic light junction has not progressed at all.  There has been no significant work on the stretch of road from where the old Yüksel Collection shop used to be, down towards Ziraat Bank.

The only other part of town where we can see road works is in Kızıltaş, where work continues along Istiklal Caddesi.  This is the road that leads to the Mediteran Apart/Hotel.  See photo below, taken yesterday.

A new service road has been partially concreted, providing a better surface for people staying in and around the Samira Deluxe area, who may be going into town.  See photo below.

We are pleased to report that the noisy excavation work has pretty much stopped.  There is just the occasional outbreak of activity, but these sessions tend to be quite short lived.  We have spotted this activity close to the bus station exit, and also on the way to Kışla.

Below: Another view of the service road, on the right of this picture, looking towards the bus station.
