Google problems in Turkey PDF Print E-mail

LaptopIf you live in Kalkan, the chances are you already know that the Turkish government has banned a number of websites, including You Tube.  In total, more than 5,000 websites are currently blocked.

Google, the owners of You Tube, now find that the Turkish government has extended the range of banned sites, to include popular Google tools such as maps, and translation services.

So you may find it difficult or at best very slow, using some Google applications in Turkey.

If you want to know more about the background to this matter, you can read the following Hurriyet Daily News online article.

The Kalkan Turkish Local News website has some Google Ads, the income from which contributes to running the website.  We believe that they may be slowing down pages loading, for our readers in Turkey, so we have temporarily switched them off, to see if it makes a difference.

Unfortunately, the Kalkan Business Map, powered by Google, appears to have problems loading in Turkey too.  Sorry about that.

However, KTLN members can still download our printable (PDF) Food & Drink map showing 99 establishments - more than 200 of you have already downloaded the map so far!

Let's hope this problem is resolved soon.
