Local businesses and private individuals donated around 375,000TL to turn this project into reality. There were a few speeches and a number of awards were made to those involved in the project. A brilliant theatrical group from Antalya performed ’Vatan Kurtaran Şaban’ (Save the Homeland, Şaban), which appeared to go down well with the audience. Here are a few photos from the evening. Below: The audience starts to arrive.
Below: The red tape is cut. In the centre of this photo are the school headmaster, Galip Karakan, the Kaymakam of Kaş, Süleyman Yılmaz, and the Mayor of Kalkan, Saim Karakurt.

Despite some cynical voices who said it would never happen, the Kalkan First School amphitheatre was officially opened last week, and a full house was there to see the very first performance.
