Kalkan Turkish Local News has been informed that once again, this year, on Thursday 1st July, Kalkan is to hold a sea festival.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to find out details of the day's events in advance, but based upon last year, here is what we think may happen.

The fun will start at Kalkan Beach, at around 10.00 to 10.30am.  There will be some water based fun and games, including swimming races, so if you want to take part, bring your swimming gear along.

Last year there was a fun competition, like something out of It's a Knockout.  We assume it will happen again.  Basically, it involves a horizontal wooden pole smothered in olive oil, fixed over the sea.  At the far end of the pole is a flag.  The aim is to work your way along the pole and grab the flag.  Sounds easy doesn't it.
