An exhibition Friday 16th July - Patara's Peoples' Love For Its Theatre PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 16 July 2010
SharePataraIf you are in Kalkan at the moment, why not take time out tonight to visit the Culture House to see an exhibition, all about the history of theatre and the arts in Patara.

The exhibition begins at 7pm tonight (Friday 16th July), and will be officially opened by the Governor (Kaymakam) of Kaş, Süleyman Yılmaz.

Event organiser Semra Eren-Nijhar would be delighted to see as many of you as possible. Everyone is welcome.

The exhibition will include lots of photographs, and guest speakers will provide an interesting insight into Lycian history, and the role of theatre in the local community.

Semra is particularly interested to develop and foster good relations with foreigners in the area, who share her passion for theatre and the arts in general.

She told KTLN, "My prime objective in researching and producing this exhibition is to help build a bridge of intercultural exchange between the local communities and the expatriates from mainland UK to Kalkan".

"The exhibition is an attempt to help foster a better understanding between communities and engender trust based on a common love for theater and the arts. The history of ancient Lycia is the backdrop for this exhibition and features photographs of local people, its geography, Patara’s archeological sites and the history of theatre in Patara".

The Culture House is opposite Salt & Pepper restaurant, in Kalkan town.
