I like the recipes, the exchange rates, information about local people, events and anything to do with travelling to Turkey is important. And of course, the webcams.

New road near Arçelik shopIt's time for the monthly KTLN Kalkan roads udate.

For once, there is not much to report, but here it is anyway.

Starting with the D400 Kalkan by-pass, we reported last month that the upper, Fethiye bound carriageway was open, and carrying traffic in both directions.  This is still the position.

The lower carriageway has not been worked on (as promised - to avoid dust and noise in the main tourist season.)  However, during July there was some limited work undertaken laying large pipes.  But in the main, all is quiet.

Turning to local roads, there has been very little activity, however two projects deserve a mention.

Firstly, the concrete road from Kızıltaş coming out past the Arçelik shop, near the traffic lights, has been completed, and this now provides an additional exit route/access point for locals.  See photo below.

And secondly, again in Kızıltaş, Istiklal Caddesi has been completely concreted, providing a decent road all the way from the Mediteran Apart/Hotel, past the Samira Deluxe, and coming out on the main road going up to Akbel.  See photo below.
