We recently reported that Kalkan has taken delivery of a new fire engine.

Well, the Belediye has acquired another useful vehicle - this time it is a road sweeper.

The new machine has a 1,600 litre capacity for waste materials, and carries a 400 litre water tank to spray water on the roads, to minimise dust.

It is claimed that in one hour, it can clean an area of 33,000 square metres.

Just one thought springs to mind - with so many parked cars on the streets of Kalkan, there will be many areas where it will be quite difficult to clean.  However, despite this, it has got to be a step in the right direction.
