What made me sign up to KTLN?  It's a good source of information/news and I always point clients to it as another reference point, on top of all the information we give them.  So well done.

Health insurance seminar in Kalkan PDF Print E-mail

Health InsuranceKalkan Turkish Local News is arranging a free seminar on health insurance for foreigners in Turkey.

It's an important matter for many of us, and has been the subject of lots of speculation over recent months - notably in relation to the need to have Universal Health Insurance.

The Hurriyet Daily News article on this subject, dated 5th August, is correct, in as far as it goes.  However, it leaves so many questions unanswered.

So KTLN has asked a number of experts to come along to tell us what our options are, as long term residents in Kalkan.  Following a few brief presentations, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The seminar will be held at 5pm on Friday 17th September (after Ramazan and Şekere Bayram have ended).

The location in Kalkan has yet to be decided, as it will depend on the numbers attending.  Update: to be held in the Conference Room at the Pirat Hotel, Kalkan.

We have invited along a number of people who have expert knowledge in this area, including representatives from some of the banks in Kalkan, and SGK (Sosyal Güvenlik Merkezi) - the Turkish Social Security Centre.

Also present will be local Kalkan doctor, Dr Cem Tolunay, and Barış from Barış Consultancy in Fethiye, who specialises in insurance services.

In order that we can secure the most appropriate venue, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you intend to come along.  Once we have an idea of numbers, we will publish details of the venue.

Please get in touch before the end of August, by using the Contact Us tab, at the top of this page.

If you can't make it, don't worry, as we will be publishing a summary of the meeting on KTLN, shortly after the 17th September.

One final thing to mention.  We have been in touch with the British Embassy in Turkey, and they are seeking clarification on the Universal Health Insurance position.  As soon as their view is available, you can read about it first, here on KTLN.
