Guardian Top 10 sunshine breaks features Kaş PDF Print E-mail

Kaş streetThe Guardian has come up with its top 10 autumn sunshine breaks, and one of them is Kaş.

We sometimes wonder whether travel journalists actually visit the places they recommend.

Kaş is described as a "relaxed old fishing village".  We have nothing against Kaş, in fact we like it very much, but the Guardian description is stretching things a little.

Below: A photo of Kaş taken in July 1983 - could it have been a "relaxed old fishing village" back then? Kaş in July 1983

Strangely, the same newspaper published in June, an article called Top 10 beaches in Turkey, but fails to mention Patara.  To be fair, it is supposedly listing "crowd-free" beaches, but then again, Patara is so big that it never really feels crowded.

However, the article does mention the wonderful Kaputaş beach, just a few minutes drive from Kalkan.  It says that "Dolmuses (minibuses) between Kalkan and Kas stop off at Patara".  How does that work then?

KTLN is thinking about doing an article called Top 10 schoolboy errors by travel journalists.  We already have a few things in mind, but if you have seen any odd write ups, do get in touch.  They don't necessarily need to be about Kalkan.
