Speed limit changes in Turkey PDF Print E-mail

Speed limitsThe government has made some minor changes to speed limits.

In truth, these changes won't affect you in and around the Kalkan area, but just in case you drive to some larger towns and cities, we bring you the details.

The most significant change for cars is that when driving on intercity (Şehir Dışı) roads where there is a dividing metal barrier, the limit has been increased from 90kph to 110kph.

For normal inter town/city roads, such as the D400 between Kalkan & Fethiye, and Kalkan & Kaş, the limit for a car is 90kph, unless signs tell you otherwise.

Please note that people carriers, and vehicles that are classed as commercial, such as the Fiat Doblo are subject to a lower limit.

KTLN members can find a summary of key 'Turkish Rules of the Road', including a table of speed limits,  in our Knowledge Bank, under Transport.

To read full details of the speed limit changes, as reported on Hurriyet Daily News, click here.

You may also find this story on Todays Zaman, however we don't recommend reading it, as it is inaccurate.

You may also like to know that there is a minimum speed limit of 15kph on main roads for motor vehicles.  However the following mode of transport is exempt.
