Share Breaking news: In a change that will bring a sigh of relief to many foreigners in Kalkan, the tapu office in Kaş is no longer insisting on the production of an ID (kimlik) number, in order to get your property tapu. On Wednesday 8th September, KTLN reported on this new interpretation of the law. In that article, we did stress that this was the position at the Kaş office, and we also pointed out that laws can sometimes be interpreted differently at a local level. We have learned today that this was a misinterpretation of some new procedures in Kaş, and it has been confirmed that an ID number, (and therefore residency), is definitely not required, when foreigners are buying property.
