Kalkan water supply disrupted Friday 17th September PDF Print E-mail

water bowserWater alert - updated Saturday mid-day: Power lines feeding the water pumps near Saklikent have been damaged, causing the pumps to stop working.  Consequently, Kalkan is experiencing disruption to fresh water supplies.

Work has taken place today to repair the electricity cables, and the Belediye informs us that water should be flowing again by tonight (Friday), or first thing tomorrow morning (Saturday).

See below for Saturday mid-day update.

As at mid-day in Kalkan, you may still be without water, however the Belediye tell us that water is coming.  It takes time for the water pressure to build up again.  We believe that all of Kalkan should have a water supply back on, some time on Saturday.

We thought you may be interested to know the reason for the power failure.  It is reported that someone took a pot shot at some birds, who were sitting on power cables.  The cables were damaged by gun shot.

Many people may have been without water, but on the other hand one family near Saklikent feasted on pigeon pie the other day - so it's not all bad!
