Many of the children come from less well off backgrounds, where such things would be in short supply. There are children of all ages, from babies to teenagers. The organisers of this initiative will cover the boxes in fancy paper, and each child will get one as a present. Cenk Toparlakli, the owner of Parc Kalkan, has very kindly agreed that items can be left at his restaurant, and they will then be passed on to the organisers. There are strict laws in Turkey on collecting cash for good causes, so they can't ask you for money, but you can donate goodies to go inside the boxes. KTLN very much supports this initiative, and we hope that many of you will feel able to give something.
KTLN has reported on this school before - the Kalkan Rehabilitation Centre (Özel Kalkan Özel Eğitim Rehabilitasyon Merkezi), and we believe it does excellent work. Read earlier KTLN articles here: This KTLN article was originally published on 20th September 2010. Share |

For Kurban Bayram (mid November), a small group of British and Turkish locals would like to present all the children at the Kalkan special needs school with a shoe box filled with goodies - such as sweets, crayons, paints, toys and little gifts.
They would appreciate donations from KTLN readers, to fill the boxes.
