There were 8 members of the public present. The meeting was quite brief. The Mayor suggested a few last minute changes to the agenda. This was agreed, but with some reservations expressed by certain Board members. Item one on the agenda was the re-election of the Belediye planning sub-committee. Three men were duly elected: Hasan Erkek (CHP), Raşit Akdeniz (CHP) and Hakan Kalçın (AKP). The Belediye would like to do more to ensure full coverage, but it was agreed that this can only be when adequate resources are in place, and this means deferring any extension of services for the time being. We cannot be certain about the precise location, but we know the land is somewhere between the Likya and Pirat Hotels and on the coast side of Akdeniz Caddesi. See the Google map - right, (Google copyright acknowledged). Beyond that, we prefer not to comment, as matters may be subject to legal proceedings.
As we pointed out in our earlier article, technically, the new vehicle operating in Kalkan is not an ambulance, but a 'nakil' (transporter), as there is no qualified medical person on board at the moment. In an emergency a local doctor could use the equipment, and it is intended to recruit a qualified nurse.
However, the Kalkan Belediye has been told that in view of the number of people who are in Kalkan during the main tourist season, a proper ambulance ('yüz on iki' - 112) can be supplied by the government. This is in addition to the vehicle just delivered. All the Belediye has to do is find a suitable location for the ambulance vehicle and for the trained operators to live. |

There was no Board meeting in August.
A letter was read out by the Mayor, from a Turkish man who was writing to point out certain planning irregularities regarding a couple of large parcels of land.
