Share Here is another round up of changes that have come to our attention, since our last What's New article, on 28th March. If you know of any other comings and goings, please drop us a line. If we have enough to warrant a further update, we will consider including it.
Bar Code is now called Boaters Bar Code. They have taken down that huge bar code image, which we think is probably a good thing.
In between the Baykush gift shop and Şeyma's Spice shop, you will soon be able to find Kalkan Exclusive Properties. KTLN members may recall seeing a Day in the Life profile of one of the business partners, Gonca Özel, on 22nd March 2010.
Opposite Şeyma's Spices, in the town centre, is a new fashion retailer - Blanc du Nil. They specialise in selling white cotton goods. We believe it is an international franchise business. There is a shop with the same name in Kaş.
Next door to them is a new ceramic shop - currently with no name, and next door to that will soon be another trendy fashion shop - again, the name is currently not decided upon.
Further along that small road, just before Rami's restaurant is a new tailor's shop - Nüans Tailor. In fact, this is not a new business, it has just moved about 15 metres and crossed to the other side of the street.
And at the end of the same road, just beyond the Zula restaurant, a new rooftop restaurant is to open soon - the Istanbul Kervan. It has great views of the bay.
And speaking of Istanbul, the restaurant of that name, which was on the roof terrace of the Zinbad Hotel in 2009, has moved. It is now located between the Akdeniz restaurant, and the new Chocolate Bar (formerly No Name Bar).
Kalkan has a new travel business - Volume Travel. Their office is where Ramo jewellers used to be, towards the bottom of Hasan Altan Caddesi - opposite the Nural Seramik shop.
Ramo, the jeweller, has relocated to where Kalkan Property Services used to be, in between Ali Baba's, and Tomato Flower - not far from the PTT.
There is a new swimming pool supplies and equipment shop on Kalamar Road, near to where the Technic & Art office used to be, and not too far from Xpress Travel. The shop is called, The Pool. Perfectly logical.
And at the old Technic & Art office, or to be more precise, right outside the office, you will soon be able to call in to Brown's for good coffee and cocktails. It sounds like it will be a kind of outdoor, cafe garden. Coming soon.
Further along Kalamar Road, just past Asfiya Hotel, and opposite Pasha Apartments, there will soon be a new ladies and gents fashion shop. We don't have the name yet.
On the main D400 road, close to the main junction, on the Fethiye bound carriageway, is a new car wash and valeting business, Özdere Otomotiv.
The manager of Akbank tells us that in May they plan to install a new ATM in town. They are currently speaking to the Belediye about a location. We will let you know where it will be sited, as soon as we hear anything. Akbank also plans to have a new ATM in Patara town centre - also scheduled for May installation.
And speaking of ATMs, don't be fooled by the Vakıfbank ATM alongside Luka restaurant. It is not a cash machine at all, even if it looks like one. Someone managed to get hold of the shell of an old ATM unit, and is using it for storage. Stick your card in the hole and you will be waiting an awfully long time!
