CAA launches unprecedented repatriation effort after Monarch collapse PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 02 October 2017

MonarchBad news from the travel industry.  After a long period of speculation it has been announced that the UK's fifth largest airline group Monarch has ceased trading and entered administration.

The Monarch web site is no longer available and confirmation of the failure of the business has been published on the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) web site.  As of today 2 October 2017 all future holidays and flights provided by Monarch have been cancelled and are no longer operating.

The scale of this failure is unprecedented and because there are as many as 110,000 passengers abroad, the UK government has asked the CAA to co-ordinate flights back to the UK for all Monarch customers currently overseas. These new flights will be at no extra cost to Monarch customers.

Tuesday, 26 September 2017

Meis ExpressIt has been reported that following a dispute between Turkey and Greece, the Turkish Ministry of Transport has introduced a ban on all commercial yachts and passenger ships sailing to Greece.

For yachts the ban is already in place and for passenger ships the last date for travel is 12th October.  Up until then travel is still permitted but from 13th October all regular passenger services will be halted.

The ferry services between Fethiye and Rhodes are among those affected as well as the service from Kaş to Meis (Kastellorizo).

You can read more about this dispute by clicking on the following link: Hurriyet Daily News

Let’s hope a resolution to this problem can be found, otherwise travellers will be inconvenienced and businesses will suffer.
