What made me sign up to KTLN?  It's a good source of information/news and I always point clients to it as another reference point, on top of all the information we give them.  So well done.

Macmillan coffee morning: Old Town Hotel & Cafe - Friday 29th September PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 22 September 2017

Macmillan coffee morningThe Old Town Hotel & Cafe is hosting a coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, on Friday 29th September from 10:00 to 15.00.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

For every cake made and sold by the cafe all of the profits will go to the charity.  If you are in Kalkan why not go along and eat cake for charity!

If people would like to bring along their own home made cakes and donate them, the cafe will be happy to sell them and 100% of income received will be passed on to Macmillan.  If you would like to donate cake(s) it would be helpful if you could advise the cafe in advance so that they can be aware of what to expect.

Take part in the Race For Life in Fethiye - Sunday 15th October 2017 PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 19 September 2017

Race for Life FethiyeYou may have heard of Race for Life.  It's a fundraising event originally created by Cancer Research UK.

George Rimmer, an expat living in Fethiye successfully brought Race For Life (Yaşam İçin Yarış) to Turkey a few years ago, with all funds raised going towards fighting cancer here in Turkey.

It's almost time for this year's Race For Life in Fethiye which takes place on Sunday 15th October.  The five kilometre course is along the Kordon waterfront in Fethiye.  If you would like to take part you can run it, or you can walk it, but however you do it, it's all about raising money for a good cause.

To find out more please read on.

Kalkan water alert Sunday 17th September PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 17 September 2017

Water alertWater alert: If you are in Kalkan now you are probably aware that the water supply is off.  We spoke with a local ASAT worker who advised that there is a burst water main near Saklıkent which is currrently being repaired.

Work should be completed later today and then the system must be recharged with water.  It is possible that some customers in Kalkan will have their water supply restored late on Sunday evening but it may be tomorrow morning before things return to normal for everyone.

For information, the ASAT help line is Alo 185, or the number of the Kaş office is 0242 836 2426.

Former Kalkan resident Chris Morgan dies after long illness PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 10 September 2017

Chris MorganIt is with great sadness that we report the death of former Kalkan resident Chris Morgan who passed away peacefully on 2nd September at a hospice in Chester after an eighteen month battle with liver cancer.  She was 68 years old.

Chris leaves behind a beloved husband Andrew, two sons Andrew and Danny, grandchildren Hannah and Harry, and a doting daughter in law Julie.  They told us, “Chris will never be forgotten and will be forever in our hearts”.

Chris always regarded her time in Kalkan fondly, enjoying card games with friends, line dancing, the sunshine and socialising with family and friends.

Liberation Day in Kastellorizo (Meis) - 13th September PDF Print E-mail

Meis harbour

If you are in Kalkan around the middle of next month and are looking for an interesting day out you might like to consider a day trip to the nearby Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo), where on Wednesday 13th September 2017 they celebrate Liberation Day

Normally the island is a sleepy backwater where nothing much happens but on this day they hold a ceremony at the harbour that is attended by the great and the good - including VIPs from the Greek mainland.  Even on such an auspicious day it won't be over crowded but there should certainly be a buzz about the place.

To give you some background about what Liberation Day is all about we thought we would give you a brief history of the island.  It’s rather complex so we have made it simple.
